The Service Supervisor will oversee a team of service technicians (road and shop) to help complete quoted breakdown, rebuilds, PDI’s, service and repair of material handling, and compact construction equipment. This role is an integral part of the leadership team, and it requires providing hands-on technician support through mentoring and the development of the team.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Proactively manage the shop schedule in collaboration with the Service Advisors to ensure optimal efficiency;
  • Assist service advisors on work order stories/write-ups/warranty issue/customer issues;
  • Build service quotes and dispatch service work to technicians as required;
  • Monitor progress, provide direction or discipline as required;
  • Maintain excellent service levels, safety, security and deliver on management objectives;
  • Ensure a high level of quality control in-shop repairs;
  • Communicate and implement procedures to continuously improve service performance;
  • Provide triage type solutions to customers with real-time estimates on repairs;
  • Ensure repairs are conducted in a timely and effective manner;
  • Coach and develop apprentices;
  • Ensure shop work areas, supplies and tools are kept organized and safe;
  • Oversee shop supplies’ inventory;
  • Support the team, ensuring they are working in alignment with company procedures;
  • Responsible to assists in creating and implementing technicians training plans;
  • Provide training and mentorship to Apprentices and other team members;
  • Assist with customer interaction, as required;
  • Assists with the administration of all service warranties;
  • Promote and lead Health and Safety initiatives while ensuring compliance to existing Health and Safety policies;
  • Assist the Service and/or Operations Manager with other duties, as required.
  • Ensure adherence to company Human Resources practices and procedures and fostering of positive ongoing relationships with all employees;
  • Train, develop, mentor, and coach junior team members;
  • Responsible for maintaining efficient and productive staffing levels;
  • Ensure the companies “ways of working” are modeled and adopted throughout their team; the incumbent will work with the company’s values to deliver a positive, constructive work environment;
  • Responsible for the safety of all their staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
  • Strong communicator with a proven ability to manage people effectively;
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Ability to read schematics and embrace continued learning;
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical equipment with a passion for learning;
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
  • Willing to attend onsite and off-sight manufacturer’s training in the US;
  • Strong execution and communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to contribute positively to the team environment with willingness and desire to learn;
  • A proactive autonomous individual driven by their high standards and desire to succeed;
  • 5-6 years experience with hydraulic and/or electrical work and systems;
  • 2-3 years of team lead and or supervisory experience;
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record;
  • Heavy Duty Red Seal will be considered an asset.

Compensation Package: 
  • Salary between $80k - $95k depending on experience and qualifications. 
  • 3 weeks vacation.

Working Conditions:

The Service Supervisor is based out of the Abbotsford Office and works 40 hours on average per week Monday to Friday.
